Former Red Raider quarterback, Davis Webb, was cut by the New York Giants Sunday despite a preseason that saw him perform well enough for many experts to assume he had earned the backup QB job. Now, Webb, one of the most respected Texas Tech football players of the past few years, faces an uncertain professional future.
Webb was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and spent last season on the Giants’ roster as the third-string QB. But a strong preseason seemed to have him positioned to backup veteran starter Eli Manning.
Webb passed for 283 yards and a touchdown in four preseason games this year, while not throwing an interception.
