After a successful summer league in which he averaged 5.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, Zach Smith proved that he could be a contributor at the next level. Though Smith played for the Atlanta Hawks summer league team, his play seemed to impress the Charlotte Hornets front office the most. Charlotte signed Smith to their training camp roster giving Smith a chance to potentially be given one of the 15 full time positions or one of the two 2-way contracts. The Hornets currently have 18 player season signed to camp, which gives Smith a good chance of securing one of these spots.
