The Seton Hall women’s basketball team erased a 14-point halftime deficit but could never pull ahead in a 71-69 setback at St. John’s on Saturday afternoon at Carnesecca Arena.
The Pirates were led by senior guard Tabatha Richardson-Smith, who had a season-high 34 points after being surprisingly absent from the starting lineup. Richardson-Smith’s total marked a new season-high, and the senior added seven rebounds and three steals.
Danaejah Grant powered St. John’s with 29 points and 13 rebounds, including a late basket to help hold off the Hall’s charge.
Shakena Richardson added 15 for SHU, while Lubirdia Gordon chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and five blocks.
