Umps make the right call for the other team

Mr. Sportsknowitall: What is it with these umps? They get the calls wrong. The strike zone moves all around. Come on. T.F.

A 10-year study of the calls made by umpires in all baseball games, and the penalties called and ignored by football officials, shows that almost 78 percent were called in favor of the other team. (Just a quick note: So you don’t sound like a complete idiot, umpires have generally worn black since 1997, not blue as in “Hey, blue, get your head out. …”) Almost 46 percent of umps do enjoy missing a good game and want to help the opposition.
