What actually qualifies as a worthwhile list was unveiled Saturday when ESPN football analyst Mel Kiper Jr., during the "Dari and Mel" radio show, rattled off his top five College Football Playoff dark horses.
There was good news for Nebraska fans who long for national relevancy: The Huskers were No. 5 on the list.
Full disclosure: Kiper called me Friday night to ask about Nebraska's depth chart and key players. He does his homework. I didn't know Friday he was preparing a list of dark horse teams.
