Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard suspended for using explicit language toward fan

Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard was suspended by MLS on Friday for three games and fined for foul language directed toward a fan and also an altercation with a fan after Sunday’s game at Sporting Kansas City.

While being heckled by fans, Howard made an explicit comment about a fan’s mother. The Rapids made a statement Friday,

“Tim Howard made an unfortunate and regrettable mistake for which he is being disciplined by MLS. While this is out of character for Tim, we do not condone these actions. We accept the league’s decision and look forward to moving past this.
