Colorado Rapids’ Development Academy were beaten 5-0 on Tuesday at the Generation adidas Cup in Frisco, Texas, by a River Plate side which served up some delightful soccer.
"For us, part of the challenge going into today's game was, we were a little fatigued," said U16 head coach, Chris Cartlidge. "And with fatigue, we were a little off the pace, which you'll be punished for by a team like River Plate."
The Rapids found themselves 2-0 down within the opening 16 minutes, but had a glorious chance in between. A wonderfully-threaded cross-field through ball from Milo Garvanian dropped into the path of Anthony Priest.
