Three years into his college career, Cal quarterback Jared Goff is still a bit of an enigma.
At times, he looks good. At other times, he looks elite, a player destined to helm playoff teams in the NFL someday.
But far too often throughout his Cal career, when faced with the biggest moments and the toughest defenses on the schedule, Goff has struggled.
You don’t have to look hard to find an example. The excitement around the Bears was palpable going into the game against No. 5 Utah. Cal was undefeated, the matchup was featured on ESPN’s College GameDay, Goff was getting a lot of buzz for the Heisman Trophy, and there was even talk of NFL teams tanking so that they could draft him with the first overall pick.
